Responsible for working with administrative and direct services in
developing and implementing emergency shelter services, i.e. crisis
intervention, crisis counseling, intakes, assessments, orientations
and cooperative living agreements.
Works with administrative and direct services staff in development
and implementation of emergency shelter services for victims of
Provides crisis intervention, crisis counseling, intakes,
assessments and orientations to shelter life for victims of
Recognizes emergency situations and makes immediate, appropriate
decisions while being cognizant of the safety and security needs of
residents, staff, and volunteers.
Recognizes the need and appropriateness to call on-call staff
and/or the need to call for emergency services.
Answers and assesses 24 hour crisis telephone hotline to determine
eligibility for services and to provide for appropriate action
including transport into shelter or referral to appropriate
Maintains open lines of communication with law enforcement
Provides for overall management and coordination of shelter
services to include physical plant maintenance and repairs,
security, health and safety, and food purchasing.
Facilitates shelter meetings to coordinate daily menus, chore
assignments, and address issues of communal living.
Oversees cooperative living agreements.
Provides education, information, and referral to residents.
Maintains crucial grant and agency required statistical and
administrative documentation for monthly, quarterly, and annual
Communicates regularly with other shelter staff on client
Organizes and facilitates the distribution of donations.
Assists in preparation and facilitation of support group
Accompanies women as they move through the court system and assists
in the application process for protective orders and Violence
Against Women s Act (VAWA) status.
Attends all meetings pertinent to job performance
Other duties as assigned.

you'll bring with you:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Services or human services
equivalent work/life experiences.
Experience: Knowledge and/or experience with residential care
settings and crisis intervention and/or crisis counseling.
Other: Strong household management capabilities. Ability to Work
rotating shifts and work extended hours as needed. Ability to lift
and push 50 pounds. Basic computer skills.
Preferred Experience: Prefer knowledge and/or experience with
residential care settings. Prefer knowledge and/or experience in
crisis intervention and/or crisis counseling.
Preferred Other: Bilingual preferred. Valid driver's license
