The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC), a Family Friendly Certified Workplace, is seeking a Unit Support Assistant (Human Services Specialist III) position to join the Vocational Rehabilitation Department team located at 1406 Jacaman Rd., Laredo, Texas.Benefits to working for TWC include:

  • Additional benefits for active employees: https://www.ers.texas.gov/Active-Employees/Health-Benefits.The Unit Support Assistant (Human Services Specialist III) performs moderately complex (journey-level) social service or case management, administrative support and technical program assistance duties utilizing the Rehab Works system and other Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) automated resources. Work involves collecting, preparing, and reviewing cases to facilitate access to medical, educational, social, and other services; and providing intervention and frequent contact with individuals, facilities, and service providers. May provide guidance to others. Works under general supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and judgment.GENERAL DUTIES:
    • Assists in researching and analyzing statistical data.
    • Responds to customer referral sources and provider inquiries.
    • Develops and maintains tracking systems.
    • Coordinates performance appraisal systems for the VR Manager.
    • Provides mentoring.
    • Safeguards confidential information.
    • Provides support to the VR Manager as well as the Unit Support Coordinator's small caseload and the Unit support team.
    • Works as a member of the office team to foster safety and security of office staff, customers and property at the work place.
    • Performs related duties as assigned.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
      • Eighteen (18) months experience in office practices and office support work using a personal computer in a Windows based environment.
      • Experience in applying purchasing procedures.
      • Experience in responding to work related inquiries.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
        • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework plus two years of full- time qualifying experience in human services, social science, business or a related field.
