The department is a secure, 15 LDR unit in the main campus of Laredo Medical Center. Opportunities to cross-train and float to theMother baby and NurseryUnitsis available and optimized in periods of fluctuating census.All units report directly to the Director of Labor and Delivery. The Hospital is located in sunny Laredo, Texas, just 150 miles south of historic San Antonio. Read a full position description below.Position's Purpose and Essential Functions:Responsible for providing secretarial support for all employees within an assigned nursing unit. Maintains and updates patients' records for a given unit. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.Applicants Job Requirements Include:High School Diploma or equivalent requiredMust be 18 years of age or olderTwo (2 ) or more years of administrative support experience in a medical setting is preferred.Current National Certification as a Health Unit Coordinator is preferred.BLS preferredAbility to type and perform computer data entry. Knowledge of Medical Terminology preferred. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred. 2 Letters of Recommendation Must successfully pass any pre-employment assessment(s) required by the facility.
