  • Develops program strategic plans, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensures program objectives are met.
  • Identifies and secures program funding and expansion resources.
  • Evaluates program procedures and performance reports.
  • Directs and supervises program staff.
  • Develops, oversees, and approves program budgets.
  • Analyzes program statistics for reporting, tracking progress, and making adjustments to programs. Maintains program activity records and provides monthly progress reports.This document represents the major duties, responsibilities, and authorities of this job, and is not intended to be a complete list of all tasks and functions. Other duties may be assigned.Additional Responsibilities
    • Recruit tutors for the Literacy Enrichment Center (LEC) sites.
    • Monitor attendance and timecards of tutors and expendable materials requirements at LEC sites.
    • Oversee the daily operation of LEC sites and the training of tutors.
    • Supervise program staff in the office, LECs, and/or schools.
    • Coordinate literacy partnership publicity and public relations, serve as liaison between the Partnership and local school districts and schools with LEC sites.
    • Assist with the management and application of grants associated with LBV Literacy Partnership, including planning and maintaining budget, drafting annual report, maintaining appropriate documents, etc.
    • Assist with the annual evaluation of the program.Minimum Requirements
      • Education - Bachelor's degree in applicable field from a regionally accredited institution of higher education
      • Experience - Seven years of related experience in program management including a minimum of 2 years related supervisory experience.
      • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.Preferred Education and Experience
        • Master's degree in Curriculum & Instruction, Literacy Instruction or a closely related field.
        • Classroom teaching experience in public schools.
        • 5 years related experience.
        • Grant management experience.Knowledge and AbilitiesKnowledge of:
          • Word processing and spreadsheet applications.Ability to:
            • Multitask and work cooperatively with others.
            • Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
            • Strong public speaking, organizational, leadership, and supervisory skills.
            • Maintains attention to detail and utilizes sound judgment.Preferred Knowledge and AbilitiesKnowledge of:
              • Effective literacy intervention programs

                • Position requires regular travel to and from LEC sites within Laredo.
                • As required by the TAMIU and partner school Memorandum of Understanding for a collaborative literacy partnership, the selected applicant must obtain criminal background check clearance and TB test.
                • Position requires on campus, face-to-face interactions.
